Diversity
At Christ Church C of E Primary School we aim to celebrate the diversity within our community, the wider world and develop confidence in individual identity through our tailored curriculum. We strive to promote equality in all that we do and we use examples of where this has not always been the case in our society in the past to support learning and promote tolerance.
All learners are of equal value
We see all learners, potential learners and their parents and carers as of equal value
- Whether or not they are disabled
- Whatever their ethnicity, culture, national origin or national status
- Whatever their gender or gender identity
- Whatever their religious or non-religious affiliation or faith background
- Whatever their sexual identity
Christ Church C of E Primary School is an inclusive school where we focus on the well-being and progress of every pupil, where all members of our community are of equal worth. As a school community , we are committed to equality and diversity.
We celebrate our diverse community. This diversity consists of visible and non-visible differences which include factors such as; age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnerships, maternity and pregnancy, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, sex (including transgender people) and sexual orientation. We work on the premise that harnessing these differences will create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued, where their talents are being utilised.
EAL
There are over twenty languages spoken by families within the Christ Church C of E Primary School community. We have a number of children who are new to English or have English as an additional language, over 40% of our children are classed as EAL. We very much value those languages and welcome those who come to our school in the early stages of their language development. Our staff provide pupils with quality first teaching alongside a range of assessment strategies. We use assessment materials from the Bells Foundation to assess pupils' language proficiency, from this we then create a plan to support the child’s learning.
