Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is a payment made to schools by the Government. It makes up part of the school’s funding, is received into our budget and is made available for use throughout the whole school. Schools are free to decide how to allocate this funding to best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
At Christ Church C of E, we believe that the best teaching comes from First Wave Quality Teaching. Pupils need to receive good quality teaching every lesson, every day. Interventions are delivered to compliment this high-quality teaching that we strive to deliver on a daily basis.
The 2022/23 Current Allocation is £156,505.
29.9% of pupils at Christ Church CofE (VA) Primary School are currently eligible for Pupil Premium funding (2022). 22.5 % of pupils nationally were eligible in 2022. We believe that this under-represents the level of deprivation amongst our families and we are currently reaching out to families to apply for Pupil Premium funding.

The Pupil Premium Strategic Plan for 2022/23 plan additionally includes spending intentions for the Recovery (or Catch Up) Premium of £8400. This funding is received by all schools from the Department for Education to support children to catch up on missed learning due to Coronavirus. This is especially important for the most vulnerable children and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who will have been most affected.
