In common with all maintained schools in the country, we base our teaching on the National Curriculum, the agreed syllabus for RE and National Strategies for Literacy and Numeracy. Pupils in nursery and reception are in the Foundation Stage and follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum. All pupils are assessed throughout the year and the Foundation Stage Profile is completed for each child.

Pupils in Key Stage One (Years 1 and 2) follow the National Curriculum and National Strategies for Literacy and Numeracy. RE and PSHE are also taught. Much of the curriculum is taught through well planned and structured themes or topics. Pupils in Year 2 are assessed towards the end of the year and are given levels for reading, writing, spelling, maths and science.

Pupils in Key Stage Two (Years 3—6) also follow the National Curriculum and National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies. RE and PSHE are also taught. Pupils are tested each year to see how they are progressing, and teachers assess progress frequently. All pupils are given targets to work towards. Year 6 pupils do SAT Tests in May, and levels are given for reading, writing, maths and science.
